A section of beta cloth with an Apollo 11 mission emblem encased in lucite. It reads: "Man's greatest adventure. July 20, 1969 First men set foot on the moon. Fire-safe Fiberglass Beta yarns, originated and developed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation, were used in the space suits worn by the Apollo astronauts. This Apollo mission emblem is also printed on Beta fabric."
About ten years ago I purchased a former Owen's Corning manufacturing plant in Rhode Island. In the process of clearing out the building for renovation I found a bolt of fiberglass cloth with the Apollo 17 mission emblem printed on it in 6" x 6" squares. A former employee told me is was "Beta" cloth that was used for Apollo space suits and covers for equipment, bags etc. There are several hundred of these emblems printed on the fabric. Is this avaluable artifact?
